Welcome to Dorking Bandstand

Our Vision

“Design, build and maintain a permanent outdoor music and performance venue in Meadowbank Park, Dorking, for the benefit of the local community, in tribute to the work of the NHS, key workers and volunteers and as a Memorial to the lives lost during the Covid-19 Pandemic”

How did this start?

In March 2021, a local musician, had three ideas: how to pay tribute to the work of the NHS, key workers and volunteers during the pandemic; how to commemorate those who had suffered and lost their lives; and how to create a practical outside performance space.

The Dorking Bandstand CIO

The Dorking Bandstand CIO is a group of community volunteers. The organisation is entirely non political. The development work for project so far has been funded by long term personal loans from the trustees and donations from local organisations and individuals.

The aim of the project is to offer a wide range of performances including a summer series of “Music in Meadowbank” on Sunday afternoons and up to 8 larger concerts and performances. The bandstand will also be available for use during the week for smaller groups, community projects, sports activities etc.

NHS workers honoured with open-air performance space in Surrey

The project is being supported by the local council and Your Fund Surrey as well as a wide variety of performing groups.
